The Stepping Stones Summit is brought to you by a partnership of the City of Albuquerque’s Department of Arts and Culture and Explora, and will be an opportunity to learn and share strategies for creating, fostering, and sustaining positive relationships with youth.

The goals of Stepping Stone:

Together, we seek to answer questions such as: What are the key components of your youth development program that contribute to their effectiveness? What types of skills and experiences do you find most important for youth development staff Which types of support services have you found most critical for the teens and young adults you serve?

We encourage organizations to register a team of 2 to 3 staff members for the Stepping Stones Summit.

MOSAIC of MARKS, WORDS, MATERIAL

Exhibition and Atelier of the Infant-Toddler Centers and Preschools of the Istituzione–Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Italy

The exhibition  Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material is a collection of works by young girls and boys who attend the municipal infant-toddler centers and preschools of Reggio Emilia. Drawing and telling stories means imagining, analyzing, and exploring spaces, forms, colors, words, metaphors, emotions, rhythms and pauses, entering into a narrative dimension that is both internal and external to the self, playing on reality, fiction, and interpretation.

Though drawing and words are autonomous languages, for the children words and stories, silent or spoken, almost always go hand in hand or intertwine with the drawing, creating an intelligent and often poetic mosaic. With this investigation we tried, as much as it is possible, to better understand this interweaving, with the aim to restore to drawing, materials, words, and the children all the cognitive and expressive richness they generate.
