SCHOOL'S OUT CAMP AT EXPLORA

Each of these camps is a multi-age collaborative camp experience; Half-day, 9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00, $45 for members/$50 non members; Single day 9:00-4:00, $85 for members/$95 for non-members.

Explora offers a variety of camp programs that provide STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) engagement and enrichment while school is out. Explora offers unique investigations for a range of grade levels, in order to keep imaginations and brain cells active with STEAM!

Supervised lunchtime is included in the all day-camps. Aftercare is available from 4-5pm.

Financial assistance is available for all programs, on request. We don’t want anyone to miss out on Explora programs. Please email reservations@explora.us for more information.

Can a painting light up an LED? Can a sculpture power up a motor? Create a painting, build a sculpture, weave a pattern or sew a design that functions as simple circuitry in this hands-on art + science workshop.

To protect our littlest visitors, masks are recommended, but not required while at Explora. Our staff will be wearing masks.  

Feeling sick? Please stay home! If you are experiencing fever, runny nose, sore throat, or any other contagious symptoms, please stay home and contact us for next steps. 

  • Drop Off: Begins 15 minutes before scheduled camp time.
  • Activities: Classroom activities as described.
  • Food: Please pack self-contained peanut-free snacks and lunch as appropriate.
  • Break time: Outside, weather permitting.
  • Pick-up: Adults will be asked to show photo ID at pick-up.

Explora educators develop camp activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.

  • Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Explora offers a variety of week-long summer camps that inspire learners of all grade levels to get excited about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).  At Explora, campers preK-12th will get engaged and keep their brain cells buzzing by exploring STEAM topics in materials-rich and creative environments. Choices include in-person camps at Explora, Balloon Camp at the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum, and Farm Camp at the Agri-Nature Center in Los Ranchos. Make sure to check out our X Studio programs for teens (6th grade and above!). Let’s get curious!

Each of these week-long, half-day camps is $150 for members/$170 for non-members.

In-person classes will meet all CDC and CYFD guidelines, with ample space between children and open camp spaces. Only half-day options are available. Supervised lunchtime will be available for campers enrolled in both morning and afternoon camps. Aftercare is available for afternoon camps for an additional fee.   • Drop Off: Begins 15 minutes before scheduled camp time.
  • Activities: Classroom activities as described.
  • Food: Please pack self-contained peanut-free snacks and lunch as appropriate.
  • Break time: Outside, weather permitting.
  • Pick-up: Adults will be asked to show photo ID at pick-up.

Explora educators develop camp activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.

  • Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Cancellation Policy
  • If a cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administrative fee.
  • Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the camp will not be refunded.
  • Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program

Awaken your inner engineer as you compete in catapult challenges, soar paper airplanes, and design your very own hovercraft! Our "Things That Move" summer camp is specifically designed for neurodiverse individuals and their siblings! Come tinker, play, build social skills, and discover new things!

  • Communicate (verbally, communication device/ system).
  • Have independent personal care including bathroom skills and feeding skills.

The Art and Science of Ballooning in New Mexico

In-person classes will meet all CDC and CYFD guidelines, with ample space between children and open camp spaces. Masks are encouraged but not required.

Welcome, young balloonists, to this exciting collaboration between Explora and the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum! Spend the week exploring art, “envelopes,” weather science, and all things ballooning. Meet a local balloonist as we look into the local and international history of balloons. Experiment with buoyancy, lift, and more to determine your very best designs.

Each of these single day camps is a multi-age, collaborative camp experience, 9:00-2:00, $ 85members/$95 non-members.

Come to the farm as we experiment with pumpkins in an exciting new way. From carvings to cravings, we will try experiments throughout the day to find our favorite uses for these famous fall fruits.

Red apples, green apples, and yellow apples too… let’s experiment to decide which apples will do. Slice them, test them, then give them a try. Together we’ll find which ones are fit for a pie.

Are you feeling corny? We’re all ears for learning about this versatile vegetable! Join us on the farm for science on and off the cob. From popcorn to masa, we’ll explore why corn is an a-maize-ing food.

Water in the Wild:
Water plays a powerful role in any ecosystem. We’ll examine the Rio Grande, bosque ecosystems, and acequias to learn how people, animals, and water are all connected at the farm and in the wild!

Farming of the Future:
What is the intersection of farming and tech? In this hands-on, tech-based farm camp, you will explore a variety of aspects of farming and agriculture and innovate current farming methods through coding. Apply technology to centuries-old farming practices and bring your farming into the future. Scholarships are available for Farming the Future.

Watermania with the Center for Water and the Environment:
Dive into water science with guest educators from UNM’s Center for Water & the Environment. Through coding, designing and inventing, you’ll work with a variety of water samples and test for water quality, build water level monitors, and learn about careers in water management and resources. Water is a crucial New Mexico resource- learn about the intersection of water and tech that has real-world applications! This program will be hosted by the Larry P. Abraham Agri-Nature Center in Los Ranchos. Scholarships are available for Watermania.
