SCHOOL'S OUT CAMPS AT EXPLORA

Each of these camps is a multi-age collaborative camp experience; Single day camps run from 9:00-4:00, $85 for members/$95 for non-members. Half-day camps run from 9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00, $45 for members/$55 for non-members

Explora offers a variety of camp programs that provide STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) engagement and enrichment while school is out. Explora offers unique investigations for a range of grade levels, in order to keep imaginations and brain cells active with STEAM!

Supervised lunchtime is included in all-day camps. Aftercare is available from 4-5:30pm for $10/day.

Brain Games

4th-8th Grades
Full day camp; 9am-4pm

Delve into your brain–it’s parts, functions, and the many ways it works, and tricks, you. Learn to apply brain anatomy to human behavior and the 5 senses. Then, experiment with visual illusions and designs, hidden messages, thinking beyond the obvious, seeing your accuracy as eyewitness, and learning to improve your memory.

Full day camp; 9am-4pm

Come learn incredible coding skills as you use code to make fun and functional systems! Play with micro:bits, discover scratch, and so much more. Code the future!

Polymer Patrol

5-8th Grades
Full day camp; 9am-4pm

Explore polymers made out of everyday and exotic materials like glue and liquid latex. Investigate polymers' unique properties of shrinking, stretching, bouncing, absorbency, and reaction to extreme temperatures.

Come to the farm as we experiment with pumpkins in an exciting new way. From carvings to cravings, we will try experiments throughout the day to find out favorite uses for these famous fall fruits.

Explora offers a variety of week-long summer camps that inspire learners of all grade levels to get excited about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). At Explora, campers preK-12th will get engaged and keep their brain cells buzzing by exploring STEAM topics in materials-rich and creative environments. Choices include in-person camps at Explora, Balloon Camp at the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum, and Farm Camp at the Agri-Nature Center in Los Ranchos. Make sure to check out our X Studio programs for teens (6th grade and above!). Let’s get curious!

To help answer some of your general questions, please use this convenient guide. For additional questions, you are invited to contact the Camp Coordinator at campcoordinator@explora.us.

Sign out will happen at the Camp Door on the east side of the building (look for the green sign). You may wait in your car while a staff member brings your camper to you, or walk up to the door. Please do not leave before a staff member signs your camper out.

If you need to pick up at an unusual time, enter through the main entrance. Let the front desk staff know you are there for camp pick-up. Anyone picking up a child must provide a photo ID for verification. Explora will only release your child to designated individuals you provided in your registration information. Please let camp staff know if a change to the designated individuals is needed. Please do not take your child off-site at any time without informing the camp staff. Campers must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the end of the program unless campers are participating in aftercare.

If your camper stays all day, please provide them with a nut-free (peanut and tree nuts) lunch and a drink. We encourage the use of reusable water bottles. Please send a water bottle with your camper each day. Non-refrigerated storage will be provided for their lunch. Students will be eating lunch on the outside patio. Campers will be supervised and will have the opportunity to explore the exhibits and play on the playground during their lunch break. If you are planning on taking your child off-site for lunch, you will need to sign your child out.

Each camp day is packed full of activities to keep your child engaged. We ask that you leave electronics like portable video games, iPods, tablets, cell phones, etc. at home. Explora believes in the power of play so will restrict the use of electronics during camp hours. Explora is not responsible for damage to or the loss of any personal belongings. If you are unsure about bringing an item to camp, please call the Camp Coordinator at (505) 600-6325.

If notice of your cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the first class, a refund will be issued for the amount paid minus a 15% administration fee. Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the first class will not be refunded. If you have questions or cancellations, please contact Explora reservations at reservations@explora.us To ensure a rich learning experience for everyone, Explora reserves the right to deny continued participation due to disruptive and/or unruly behavior. In the rare instance when this occurs, there will be no refund issued.

Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program.

Specific best practices are discussed during each camp session. We reserve the right to deny continued participation due to behavior that is not in compliance with our best practices. In the rare instance when this occurs, no refund will be issued. Some camps may include the creation and consumption of food items. There is a place to note allergies and dietary restrictions/preferences in the registration process. You are also welcome to contact the Camp Coordinator at (505) 600-6734 to discuss specific camps or concerns.
