Grow your child’s love for science!

In Science to Grow On™, children make discoveries by questioning, experiencing, and investigating. Explora educators engage children and their adults in age-appropriate activities that incorporate science, art, and fun! Each session focuses on a different theme. Activities change each semester.

Meets every other week for 1½ hours.
Parent or adult caregiver participation is encouraged, but not required.

Class schedule

  •  Please select one of the following sessions (meets every other week):

    • Option A: Saturday Mornings,  9:30–11am

    1/23, 2/6, 2/20, 3/6, 3/20, 4/3, 4/17, 5/1

    • Option B: Wednesday Afternoons, 1–2:30pm

    1/20, 2/3, 2/17, 3/3, 3/17, 3/31, 4/14, 4/28


    Classes will meet at Explora if health order allows. If classes cannot meet at Explora, they will meet via Zoom with a materials kit provided.

    In-person classes will meet all CDC and CYFD guidelines for COVID-19 safety, with a limited number of children per classroom.

Explora members* $140 per child per semester
Non-members $160 per child per semester

Explora’s Camps & Programs

Explora educators develop activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.


  • You can register online, by phone, or download and mail/fax the completed registration form.
  • Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Cancellation Policy

  • If a cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administrative fee.
  • Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the camp will not be refunded.
  • Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program

Terrific Triangles

Class 1

Have you always thought the triangle was just the shape between the circle and the square? Discover different kinds of triangles and their importance. Use triangles to build three dimensional objects.

Printing Patterns

Class 2

Patterns are all around us.  We’ll study some patterns and explore different ways to make and print our own.

You Won’t Believe Your Eyes

Class 3

Discover how straight lines can bend and movies are made as you play with toys and use art to investigate how optical illusions are made in your brain.

Sand, Silt, and Clay

Class 4

What is silt?  What is sand?  Use microscopes to look at sand from a variety of places and make your own sand.  Explore the wonders of clay and make your own clay pot or sculpture to take home.

Rolling Up and Down

Class 5

Put your engineering skills to work as you use different materials to make objects roll.  Compare rolling systems, test different shapes and materials on a variety of surfaces and explore friction.

Chill Out

Class 6

Discover how super cool science is as we test a variety of substances and how they react to ice.  Melt away any preconceived notions as we experiment with temperature, size, and shape with shattering results!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Class 7

Discover the origin of a plant by dissecting a seed and finding out what makes it grow.  Investigate seeds, soils, and roots.  Take your plantings home and watch them grow.

Bubble Solutions

Class 8

Use a variety of materials and solutions to experiment with bubble blowing.  Make colorful bubble prints to take home.
