Grow your child’s love for science!

Spark a lifelong love of learning with Science to Grow On™. Together, children and their adults dive into a world of science, art, and fun through age-appropriate, hands-on investigation. Every session features a unique theme, and with activities changing each semester, the adventure never stops!

Meets every other week for 1½ hours.
Parent or adult caregiver participation is encouraged, but not required.

Explora’s Camps & Programs

Explora educators develop activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.

Registration/Information

  • You can register online
  • Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.
  • If you need assistance, please email campcoordinator@explora.us or call 505-600-6325 (Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm).

Cancellation Policy

  • If a cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administrative fee.
  • Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the camp will not be refunded.
  • Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program

Bubble Solutions

Saturday, August 29

Step into the bubble laboratory! Use a variety of materials and solutions to experiment with bubble blowing. Make colorful bubble prints to take home.

Amazing Light

Saturday, September 12

Where do shadows come from, and what secrets are hidden inside a beam of light? Find out as we play with light boxes to break down white and colored light into its brilliant components. Peer through different lenses to discover how they bend light, twist images, and change how we see the world! 

Colorful Kaleidoscopes

Saturday, September 26

Explore the amazing properties of mirrors and light. Discover the images and patterns you get when angles and symmetry come into play. Build your own colorful kaleidoscope to take home.

Leaves Everywhere

Saturday, October 10

Grab a lens and get ready to investigate foliage like never before! Use microscopes and loupes to observe different leaves and identify their characteristics. Discover how to make art with leaves and use chromatography to extract colors from different leaves.

Dirt: Dig It!

Saturday, October 24

Ready to find out what's really hiding in the mud? Dig into the science of soil to discover who and what lives underground, then roll up your sleeves to craft a recycled newspaper pot and start growing a plant of your own!

In Balance: Mobiles

Saturday, November 7

Tip, tilt, and balance! Explore balance and counter balance. Experiment with weight, center of gravity, and asymmetry using a variety of materials as you design your own unique mobile.

Be a Mad Hatter

Saturday, November 21

Many people wear hats, but have you ever thought about why? Test fabrics to determine which are the most water repellant. Explore how hats’ forms are related to their functions, and make an original hat to wear home.

Fantastic Plastics

Saturday, December 5

Ready to reinvent recycling? Test the strength of everyday plastic bags to see how they hold up, then dive into a hands-on crafting session where we'll safely melt and shrink beads and plastics into custom Shrinky Dinks and creative projects to take home!
