Explora Spring Break Camps

March 26-27 & 30-31 | April 1-3

Each of these camps is a multi-age collaborative camp experience; single-day camps run from 9:00-4:00, $85 for members/$95 for non-members. Half-day camps run from 9:00-12:00, $45 for members/$55 for non-members

Explora offers a variety of Spring Break programs that provide STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) engagement and enrichment. Explora offers unique investigations for a range of grade levels, in order to keep imaginations and brain cells active with STEAM! 

Supervised lunchtime is included in all-day camps. Before care is available from 8 am- 9 am, and aftercare is available from 4 pm - 5:30 pm, $10 per session. Pre-register for the day or pay by the session (card only). Pre-register for $20 for both before and after care on a single day.

Super Shapes

Pre-K & Kindergarten

Shapes are all around us! Discover the astounding elements of circles, triangles, and more in this hands-on camp. Build, stack, compare, and play with shapes as you explore how they fit together, move, and create patterns in the world around you.

Amazing Circles

K-5th Grades
Full day camp; 9 am - 4 pm

Circles and the variations, disks, spheres, cylinders, domes, are the most common and versatile shape in the universe. Come explore the magic of the roundest shape.

Decode the Natural World - X Studio

5th-8th Grades
Full day camp; 9 am - 4 pm

Materials-fee only camp: $15 for members/$25 for non-members

Discover some of the hidden secrets behind the natural world in our own backyard! Investigate, observe, and interpret clues from nature, all while making connections between animals, energy from the sun, and the environment. Through interactive experiments, models, and discovery-based challenges, dive deeper into how the world works around you, all while learning to see nature as a place full of evidence, discovery, and wonder.

Discover the amazing and surprising things light can do! Mix colors with light and shadow, bend light with refraction, and ride the “light wave” as you make rainbows appear. Get ready for glowing fun, bright surprises, and lots of colorful experiments!

What discoveries will you make today? Investigate the surprising powers of levers and pulleys, experiment with splashes and sinking using water displacement and buoyancy, and dive into all sorts of hands-on challenges. You might even uncover a clever trick that engineers have been using for centuries!

Logic Lab - X Studio

5th-8th Grades
Full day camp; 9 am - 4 pm

Math is more than numbers; it’s a tool for discovering how the world works! In this hands-on camp, campers will investigate data and problem-solving through interactive challenges, games, and real-world experiments. From building and testing designs to cracking logic puzzles and exploring math through movement, art, and play, campers will discover that math is creative, engaging, and everywhere!

Discover the effects of a little heat or cold on a variety of materials.  You’ll experiment with the three phases of water, determine which materials are conductive or insulating, create freezing bubbles, and more!

Test your strength against simple machines as you lift, push, and pull your way through hands-on challenges! Explore gears, ramps, and levers, and discover all the surprising ways simple machines make life easier. You might even invent your own contraption to solve a tricky task!

Our Five Senses

Full day camp; 9 am - 4 pm

Our senses help us to experience the world around us. Sometimes our senses can be tricked. In this camp, we’ll investigate our five senses. We’ll find out a little bit about how they work and how we can trick them.

Chemistry in the Kitchen

3rd-5th Grades
Full day camp; 9 am - 4 pm

Be kitchen chemists and experiment with chromatography, acids and bases in foods, leavening agents ( baking soda, baking powder and yeast), conduct tests for nutrients in foods and investigate the role of different fats in baking.

Maker Boot Camp - X Studio

5th-8th Grades
Full day camp; 9 am - 4 pm

Let’s get creative! Learn the basic tools, techniques, and materials of crafting through hands-on activities and creative drills led by our Crafternoon team. Build confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as you complete challenges and graduate as officially trained Craft Cadets ready for your next creative mission.

Get your hands dirty as you explore the world of soil, sand, and silt. Use microscopes to look at soil samples up close, make your own sand, build a house of mud, and more.

Balance affects everything! Experiment with balancing objects, balance in the natural world, and balance in your body.

Whales to Worms

3rd-5th Grades

Explore the incredible world of Animalia as you investigate life cycles and observe real living animals up close. You’ll also design and build your own “home sweet home” habitat for a creature of your choice!

BioCoding: DNA - X Studio

5th-8th Grades
Full day camp; 9 am - 4 pm

Materials-fee only camp: $15 for members/$25 for non-members

Explore the amazing world of genetics as you extract real strawberry DNA, investigate traits, and build colorful DNA models. You’ll even create your own creature using genetics rules and try your hand at decoding DNA patterns. It’s hands-on science that brings your inner biologist to life!

BioCoding: Microbiome - X Studio

Explore the hidden world of microbes as you investigate the tiny organisms that live on and inside us! Look at bacteria samples, model microbes in creative ways, and even design your own microbe character using Scratch, a block-based visual programming language. Bees, butterflies, birds, moths, and bats all play an important role in the viability of our food sources and our ecosystem. What type of plants do different pollinators like? What are the elements of a garden that encourage butterflies to visit? Create your own bee hotels and more in this camp on pollinators.
