In Growing a Scientist, preschoolers ages 2½ to 5 and their parents or adult caregivers make discoveries about science by questioning, experiencing, and investigating. Early childhood educators engage children and their adults in science and engineering activities that incorporate art, literature, and fun! Each session focuses on a different theme. Activities change each semester.
Meets every other week for 1½ hours.
Parent or adult caregiver participation is required.

- You can register online
- Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Cancellation Policy

If a cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administrative fee.

Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the camp will not be refunded.

Slippery Slime

Get your hands dirty as you explore a variety of slimy substances and make your own chemical concoctions. Watch things fizz, ooze, stretch, and squish as you mix up wild reactions and create gooey experiments that are as weird as they are wonderful!
Amazing Circles

Experiment with the strength of cones, create art with loops and circles, and be an architect with cylinders and domes. Discover the secrets of shapes as you twist, roll, and build your way through towers, tunnels, and tiny masterpieces!
Switch on, Switch off

Turn things on and off as you explore open and closed circuits. Light up bulbs, buzz buzzers, and power up wacky contraptions as you discover how electricity flows

What did the “Three Little Pigs” learn about structure? You’ll become an architect and builder as you experiment with all kinds of shapes and materials to see which ones can stand strong, wobble, or topple! Build, test, and huff and puff your way to the sturdiest design!
Pebbles and Sand, Oh My!

Roll up your sleeves and explore the world of sand and rocks. Sort rocks, examine sand from around the world, and create sand sculptures.
Fruit or Veggie?

We’ll dissect different fruits and vegetables to find out what’s inside. Then we’ll turn our discoveries into colorful fruit and veggie prints, create tasty snack art, and explore the science of what makes our favorite foods so fun to eat!
Me & My Shadow

Discover different ways to make shadows as you investigate light and shadow shapes, experiment with colored shadows, and make shadow puppets. Shine, stretch, and play with light to create dancing silhouettes and colorful shadow stories that come to life!
Caterpillars to Butterflies
WED, May 6 / THURS, May 7 / FRI, May 8 / SAT, May 9
We’ll find out how The Very Hungry Caterpillar becomes a butterfly and discover how caterpillars and butterflies eat, then use paper chromatography to transform our own caterpillars into butterflies. Watch the colors swirl and spread as your little crawler magically turns into a fluttering butterfly!
