Recently, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting for Explora Inside Out, and it was such a great morning!
Huge thanks to the NM Outdoor Recreation Division (for an Outdoor Trails+ grant), Visit Albuquerque Innovator Tourism Grant, Pland Collaborative, Lee Landscapes, Damian Velasquez, Jeff Krueger, and other private supporters for the hard work that brought this vision to life. Our campus now has enhanced landscaping, improved pathways, interpretive signage, and nine new interactive exhibits for our community to explore.
And thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! We can`t wait for you to experience it for yourself. 🌱☀️

PreK families at Valle Vista Elementary have been exploring STEAM activities together thanks to generous funding from the Nusenda Foundation. @nusendacu
In a recent "Growing a Scientist" program, they examined the popping of bubbles with watercolors. The discoveries, curiosity, and excitement prompted one teacher to continue the learning - she said, "I made some of the items we used during the sessions for the students to use in our classroom! They love it!"
Our Storyteller Series is back! Explora partners with Ms. Marie Booth`s MESA class at East Mountain High School, where students interview local STEM professionals about their journeys. It`s become a staple project we look forward to, and we`ll be sharing a new story each week this month!
First up: Dr. Eva Stricker, a biogeochemist at UNM. Growing up, a 7th-grade compost poster contest sparked her interest in reducing waste, and a 10th-grade science class on microbes cleaning up oil spills showed her that science could genuinely improve people`s lives.
Today, her work spans composting, biochar, food waste diversion, and land restoration, including helping divert over 2,200 pounds of food waste from landfills. She believes good science comes from including many perspectives and that expertise is about curiosity and effort, not just degrees.
Greetings From Grandma`s Casita!
