Curiosity starts early! Growing a Scientist™ provides a welcoming space for preschoolers (ages 2½–5) and their adult caregivers to bond over the joy of learning. Through interactive science and engineering activities infused with art and literature, our early childhood educators guide families through the exciting process of questioning and investigating. Each session explores a unique theme, offering a dynamically changing curriculum every semester.
Meets every other week for 1½ hours.
Parent or adult caregiver participation is required.

- You can register online
- Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Cancellation Policy

If a cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administrative fee.

Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the camp will not be refunded.

Bubble, Fizz, and Foam

Become a curious chemist when you mix up cool concoctions, investigate foamy foods, and pour bubbling solutions! Stir, fizz, and experiment your way through wild reactions that pop, sizzle, and surprise!
Taking Flight

What makes things fly? Find out as we investigate how air interacts with different materials to lift them up. We’ll experiment with floating balloons, build and test gliding toys, and design kites to explore the forces of flight.
Patterns on Parade

Explore patterns in nature, create a variety of symmetrical and repeating designs, and make your own patchwork quilt pattern. Play with shapes and colors as you build, sort, and design patterns that show up everywhere from footprints, to flowers, to music, and quilts!
Forceful Magnets

Investigate magnets and items they attract and repel with a variety of materials. Try magnetic painting and adding "fur" to animal pictures with magnets. Decorate and take home your own magnetic maze.
Measure Me!

Discover measuring concepts such as more and less, weight and height. We’ll practice using scales, measuring cups, and droppers, and we will use these tools to create our own snack. Mix, pour, and compare as you measure your way to a tasty, math-filled treat!
On A Roll!

Observe and compare rolling systems using recycled materials, cups, and marbles. Test which shapes roll the best and create a roller coaster for marbles.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Step into a world of reflections! Investigate mirrors, reflection and symmetry. See yourself grow tall, short, or upside down in concave and convex mirrors. Make a kaleidoscope and make symmetrical art to take home.
Mysterious Matter

Is it solid? Is it a liquid? You decide! Explore the super-cool states of matter by comparing solids and liquids. Create your own captivating bottle of colorful, swirling liquids to take home.
