In Growing a Scientist, preschoolers ages 2½ to 5 and their adults make discoveries about science by questioning, experiencing, and investigating. Experienced educators engage children and their adults in science activities that incorporate art, literature, and fun!
Each session meets every other week. Following the program, enjoy a snack together.

Examine the colors and patterns of leaves up close to discover how special they are. Create your own rubbings and prints to take home.

See air take up space as you trap it in parachutes and bubbles, and watch air do work as you spin pinwheels and move paint with your own breath. Make a windmill hat to take home.

Roll up your sleeves and explore the world of sand and rocks. Sort rocks, examine sand from around the world, and create sand sculptures.

Animals defend themselves in strange and unusual ways! Create a critter of your own with special characteristics to help it survive.

Investigate reflection and symmetry. Compare your image in concave and convex surfaces, build kaleidoscopes, and make symmetrical art to take home.

Explore chaotic motion through the playful use pendulums to draw in the sand, make paintings, and more.

Ice cubes and balloons will be the tools you use to investigate the effects of temperature change. You'll also make your own thermometer and measure what is hot and what is cool.

Be a color scientist! Watch colors change before your eyes as you mix colored solutions, combine primary colors to make secondary colors, and create colorful artwork to take home.
