Join us for investigation, discovery, and hands-on summer fun!
Explora offers a variety of week-long summer camps that inspire learners of all grade levels to get excited about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). At Explora, campers preK-12th will get engaged and keep their brain cells buzzing by exploring STEAM topics in materials-rich and creative environments.
Financial assistance is available for all summer programs, on request. We don’t want anyone to miss out on summer camp! Contact reservations@explora.us for more information.
Summer Camps at Explora
Each of these week-long, half-day camps is $150 for members/$170 for non-members.
Looking for camp all day? Enroll in morning and afternoon camp sessions. Campers staying all day will be supervised during lunchtime.
Aftercare is available from 4pm-5pm, $10 per day. Preregister for the week or pay by the day (card only).

Art In Motion
Explora different forms of animation, making pictures move! Our drawings will spin, flip and twirl around, mimicking movement. Action!

Our Five Senses
Our senses help us to experience the world around us. Sometimes our senses can be tricked. In this camp, we’ll investigate our five senses. We’ll find out a little bit about how they work and how we can trick them.

Mighty Machines
A machine is a device that makes work easier. In science, work means making something move. Simple machines reduce the amount of effort needed to move something. Most simple machines have only one moving part; some are so simple they don’t have any moving parts!

Art Experiments
Explore science through art as you compare ingredients and manipulate variables in homemade paints, paper, doughs, and other art materials that you’ll use to create art pieces and sculptures, some of which you can eat!

Forensics Lab
Delve into forensics and learn the skills used by law enforcement to solve crime. Learn to apply the scientific method to analyzing fingerprints, fiber, hair, and blood, then experiment with extracting DNA and crime scene analysis.

Explore the elements of construction using different materials! Students become architects and builders as they experiment with structure, tension and shape.

Chemistry Galore
Put on your goggles and smock as you mix and create chemical concoctions that fizz, foam, bubble and even change color! You'll also use chemistry to launch a mini-rocket and make invisible pictures appear.

Get your hands dirty as you explore the world of soil, sand and silt. Use microscopes to look at soil samples up close, make your own sand, build a house of mud and more.

Bosque Engineers
Want to help solve engineering challenges in our beautiful bosque? Join us for research in the field and back in Explora’s lab! We’ll investigate complex problems and evaluate design solutions to maintain biodiversity in the Bosque. Camp includes a field trip to the Rio Grande.
This camp is hosted in collaboration with Dual Language Education of New Mexico as part of a teacher training program.

What a reflection! Experiment with the reflective properties of mirrors and other reflective surfaces and discover symmetrical images, refraction, and so much more.

Be inspired and empowered! Become a creator--not just a user--during this special coding program.
