Explore basic principles of chemistry, biology, physics, or engineering through cooking, constructing, or experimenting in these camps designed for children who have completed kindergarten or first grade. Select a morning, afternoon, or one of each to make a full day of camp.

All-Day Camp (9am-4pm) – 5 full days:  $260 Explora members • $300 Non-members

Morning (9am-noon) – 5 half days:  $130 Explora members • $150 Non-members

Afternoon Camp (1-4pm) – 5 half days:  $130 Explora members • $150 Non-members

Add Before or After Camp Care (optional): Times: 8-9am and/or 4-5:30pm, $5 per child, per morning or afternoon

The following is a list of Explora Summer Camp for children who have completed kindergarten or grade 1.

Week 1:  June 3-7

Morning

We Love Dirt!: Get ready to get your hands dirty as we explore the world of soil, sand, and silt.  Use microscopes to look at dirt samples up close and discover how different they are from each other. We’ll also make our own sand, build a house of mud, and more.

What’s Cooking in Chemistry?: Become a kitchen chemist! Learn the science secrets that allow you to transform common ingredients into uncommonly tasty snacks including ice cream, pudding, and more!

Afternoon

We Love Dirt!: Get ready to get your hands dirty as we explore the world of soil, sand, and silt.  Use microscopes to look at dirt samples up close and discover how different they are from each other. We’ll also make our own sand, build a house of mud, and more.

Week 2:  June 10-14

Morning

Keep it Balanced: What can you get to balance? Explore the concepts of balance and counter-weight by balancing yourself, investigating balancing toys, and making mobiles.

Robo Code:Computers, coding, and robots, oh my!  During this session, we will learn all about robots through hands-on activities with a variety of robots. Each robot will teach the basics of computer programming, computational thinking and, of course, robotics.

Afternoon

Beautiful Bubbles: You’ll use a variety of materials to experiment with bubbles as you test 2-D and 3-D bubble wands, create bubble prints to take home, and more.

Animals of the Night: What is an adaptation? What makes every living thing unique? Come explore the traits and tools of your favorite animals to discover why every living thing is adapted to the world around them.

Afternoon

Morning

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall: Investigate reflection and symmetry as you compare images in flat, concave, and convex mirrors, build a variety of kaleidoscopes, explore tessellations, make symmetrical art, and more.

Afternoon

Encircling Circles: Be in the loop as you discover how engaging math can be. Create art with circles and swirls, design structures with cones, cylinders and domes, and test spinning discs and spirals.

Camp price is for the full day $260 for Explora members, $300 for non-members.

Science Potpourri: Investigate reflection and symmetry, experience the magic of colors changing right before your eyes, meet Explora’s educational animals, and lots more.

Registration Info

  • Drop Off: Anytime between 8:45-9am.
  • Before care: (Extra option), beginning at 8am.
  • Activities: Classroom activities as described, plus exhibit exploration.
  • Food: Please pack morning & afternoon peanut-free snacks and lunch as appropriate.
  • Break time: Outside on the Explora playground, weather permitting.
  • Pick-up: 12pm for morning camp and 4pm afternoon or full day camp. Adults will be asked to show photo ID at pick-up.
  • After care: (Extra option) for K-8, 4-5:30pm.

Explora educators develop camp activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.

Half Day Camps

  • $130 for Explora members;
  • $150 for non-members.


Full Day Camps

  • $260 for Explora members;
  • $300 for non-members.
  • Some camps have greater costs due to materials.
Registration
  • All campers must be able to use the restroom on their own.
  • Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Cancelation Policy
  • If a cancelation is received at least 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administration fee.
  • Cancelations received fewer than 5 business days before the camp will not be refunded.
  • Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program.
