Welcome, young balloonists, to this exciting collaboration between Explora and the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum! Spend the week exploring art, “envelopes,” weather science, and all things ballooning. Meet a local balloonist as we look into the local and international history of balloons. Experiment with buoyancy, lift, and more to determine your very best designs.

This week long camp is a multi-age, collaborative camp experience, 9:00-2:00, $250 members/$275 non-members.

In-person classes will meet all CDC and CYFD guidelines, with small numbers of campers per classroom. All campers and staff must wear masks and pass a daily COVID-19 screening.

Explora offers a variety of week-long summer camps that inspire learners of all grade levels to get excited about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). At Explora, campers preK-12th will get engaged and keep their brain cells buzzing by exploring STEAM topics in materials-rich and creative environments. Choices include in-person camps at Explora, Balloon Camp at the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum, and Farm Camp at the Agri-Nature Center in Los Ranchos. Make sure to check out our X Studio programs for teens (6th grade and above!). Let’s get curious!

To help answer some of your general questions, please use this convenient guide. For additional questions, you are invited to contact the Camp Coordinator at campcoordinator@explora.us.
Sign out will happen at the Camp Door on the east side of the building (look for the green sign). You may wait in your car while a staff member brings your camper to you, or walk up to the door. Please do not leave before a staff member signs your camper out.
If you need to pick up at an unusual time, enter through the main entrance. Let the front desk staff know you are there for camp pick-up. Anyone picking up a child must provide a photo ID for verification. Explora will only release your child to designated individuals you provided in your registration information. Please let camp staff know if a change to the designated individuals is needed. Please do not take your child off-site at any time without informing the camp staff. Campers must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the end of the program unless campers are participating in aftercare.

Help send a child to camp! If you’d like to make a donation to help students in need access summer learning opportunities, please email reservations@explora.us or donate through the Explora website.
If notice of your cancellation is received more than 5 business days before the first class, a refund will be issued for the amount paid minus a 15% administration fee. Cancellations received 5 business days or fewer before the first class will not be refunded. If you have questions or cancellations, please contact Explora reservations at reservations@explora.us To ensure a rich learning experience for everyone, Explora reserves the right to deny continued participation due to disruptive and/or unruly behavior. In the rare instance when this occurs, there will be no refund issued.
Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program.

Specific best practices are discussed during each camp session. We reserve the right to deny continued participation due to behavior that is not in compliance with our best practices. In the rare instance when this occurs, no refund will be issued. If you feel like additional guidance or support regarding the best practices would be helpful, please contact the Camp Coordinator at (505) 600-6734.
Some camps may include the creation and consumption of food items. There is a place to note allergies and dietary restrictions/preferences in the registration process. You are also welcome to contact the Camp Coordinator at (505) 600-6734 to discuss specific camps or concerns.
