Grades 2–5: Farming SOILutions: What exactly is soil? What can it do? In this week long farm camp, we will examine this crucial top layer of earth up close and in depth. Work with a variety of soils, both natural and synthetic, to find what is the best to support our little sprouts!
Grades 6–12: Woodworking: This hands-on class will be a great opportunity to learn the basics of how to work with wood using traditional hand-powered tools, such as knives, chisels, drawknives, spokeshaves, planes, and carving tools. The second half of the week will involve learning basic woodturning techniques on a lathe. Students will make a series of simple projects designed to help develop an understanding of the nature of wood, as well as the strategies for safe and effective shaping techniques.
