Free! Teen Science Café

FREE event for teens at Explora!

You’ve heard of smartphones, but what about the Smart Grid? New systems will power all our devices, from cell phones to cars. This Smart Grid allows us to use greener energy like solar and wind power. It also protects our grid from threats like cyber attacks, wildfire, lightning strikes, and squirrels. This will be an interactive session about the science and technology behind the electricity grid and cutting-edge smart grid research happening in New Mexico.

Teen Science Cafés (aka. Café Scientifique) are informal teen-friendly presentations and activities with local scientists, engineers, and other professionals. They offer hands-on demos or activities and local career connection opportunities, to help spark interest in STEM career options. Free admission; snacks. No advance registration required. These events are usually on the first Friday of the month during school semester. Call for topic, presenter, time & location details near event date.

Funding assistance for Explora Teen Science Cafés, (aka. Café Scientifique), is provided by the Urban Enhancement Trust Fund of the City of Albuquerque.
