Explore basic principles of chemistry, biology, physics, or engineering through cooking, constructing, or experimenting in these camps designed for children who have completed kindergarten or first grade. Select a morning, afternoon, or one of each to make a full day of camp.

No camps July 2-6.

All-Day Camp (9am-4pm) – 5 full days:  $260 Explora members • $300 Non-members

Morning (9am-noon) – 5 half days:  $130 Explora members • $150 Non-members

Afternoon Camp (1-4pm) – 5 half days:  $130 Explora members • $150 Non-members

Add Before or After Camp Care (optional): Times: 8-9am and/or 4-5:30pm, $5 per child, per morning or afternoon

The following is a list of Explora Summer Camp for children who have completed kindergarten or grade 1.

Week 1:  June 4-8

Morning

K-1st – Marvelous Magnets: Tap into the power of magnets to race cars, create art, and move objects. Create an electromagnet and discover what makes magnets tick.

Afternoon

K-1st – Chemistry Galore:  Create chemical concoctions that fizz, foam, change colors, and much more. Harness the power of chemical reactions to launch a rocket and make invisible pictures appear.


Week 2:  June 11-15

Morning

K-1st – In the Shadows:  Have you ever studied your shadow? Explore shifting shadow shapes, shades, and sizes. Use shadows to measure time, and bounce and bend light to make shadows.

K-1st – What’s Cooking in Chemistry:  Become a kitchen chemist! Learn the science secrets that allow you to transform common ingredients into uncommonly tasty snacks, ice cream, and more.

Afternoon

K-1st – Colores locos/Crazy Colors:  Experience color like never before! Combine colors and use different mediums to transform rojos, azules, and amarillos to brilliant morados, verdes, and naranjados. Following a 50/50 English/Spanish curriculum, you’ll experiment with mixing, create natural dyes, and construct vivid kaleidoscopes! ¡Experimenta el color como nunca antes! Combina los colores y usa medios diferentes para transformar rojos, azules, y amarillos en brillantes morados, verdes, y naranjados. Siguiendo un currículo de 50/50 de inglés y español, ¡experimentarás mezclando, crearás tintes naturales y hacerás caleidoscopios vívidos!

Week 3:  June 18-22

Morning

K-1st – Matter Mysteries:  Can you build a tower of water? Catch a pocketful of air? Pour a block? Investigate the properties of solids, liquids, and gases to find out!

Afternoon

K-1st – Amazing Shapes:  There once was a greedy triangle who added more sides until it became a dodecagon.  Explore the many sides of polygons as well as the round world of circles. Investigate what shapes become as they move into the third dimension.


Week 4:  June 25-29

Morning

K-1st – Measure Me:  Master your measuring skills! Weigh some wacky objects. Find out precisely how tall you are. Use scales, measuring cups, and droppers to measure ingredients and make your own snacks.

Afternoon

K-1st – World Beneath Our Feet:  Put together sand, clay, and silt and you get something pretty amazing: soil! Dig deep to discover the secrets of soil and meet some of the life it supports.

Camp price is for the full day $260 for Explora members, $300 for non-members.

K-1st – Wide World of STEAM:  Join us for this week of a wide range of science, technology, engineering, art, and math explorations. Discover the joy and excitement of investigation and inquiry as our educators lead in this Best of Explora camp.

Summer Camp
Registration Info

  • Drop Off: Anytime between 8:45-9am.
  • Before care: (Extra option), beginning at 8am.
  • Activities: Classroom activities as described, plus exhibit exploration.
  • Food: Please pack morning & afternoon peanut-free snacks and lunch as appropriate.
  • Break time: Outside on the Explora playground, weather permitting.
  • Pick-up: 12pm for morning camp and 4pm afternoon or full day camp. Adults will be asked to show photo ID at pick-up.
  • After care: (Extra option) for K-8, 4-5:30pm.

Explora educators develop camp activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.

Half Day Camps

  • $130 for Explora members;
  • $150 for non-members.


Full Day Camps

  • $260 for Explora members;
  • $300 for non-members.
  • Some camps have greater costs due to materials.
Registration
  • All campers must be able to use the restroom on their own.
  • Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

  • If a cancelation is received at least 5 business days before the camp, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administration fee.
  • Cancelations received fewer than 5 business days before the camp will not be refunded.
  • Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program.
