Here, you can experiment with objects of various shapes in a moving bed of water and observe how each shape affects flow in different ways. You will see how the shape of each object combined with its position in the water, creates many distinct flow patterns, including eddies. An eddy is the swirling of fluid created when it flows past an obstacle. In nature you can see this occurrence when water flows past large rocks in rivers.
