Crazy Concoctions
Get ready for some birthday chemistry! Children will use droppers and a variety of substances to make their own concoctions; then they'll make a slimy substance to take home.
Insects in Hiding
Children will explore animal camouflage, design some camouflaged insects of their own, and get an up-close look at some amazing insects.
Shadow Play
Your party will begin with a poem to get children thinking about their shadows. What do they notice about the size of their shadows? Can they catch their shadows? We'll go outside to do a shadow exploration and make shadow prints to take home (weather permitting).
Color Wonders
Watch colors change right before your eyes! Children will mix colored solutions and make secondary colors from primary ones during this colorful celebration.
Polymer Potpourri
Polymers are all around us - even in our birthday balloons! Party guests will create a polymer slime and examine its characteristics and will use heat to change polymers into shrinky-dinks. They'll be able to take home these polymer party favors!
Of Beaks and Bugs
How do the sizes and shapes of animals' bodies help them survive? Party guests will test out a variety of imitation beaks as they determine which type is best suited to which bird. Children will also explore the preferences of mealworms as they observe their movement through a maze of the children's own design.
Colorful Kaleidoscopes
Party guests will explore lines, angles, and symmetry in a variety of designs they create. Then they will build their own kaleidoscopes to take home. How does the angle of the mirrors affect the quantity of images? What do these beautiful patterns remind you of?
Spin and Roll
This party will have guests' heads spinning! Children will feel the forces that act upon them as they spin and will explore a variety of spinning toys. What factors affect the length of time a top will spin? Guests also will explore rolling, as they send a variety of objects down a ramp.
Freeze! Extreme Science
Explore the properties of solids, liquids and gases in this extreme science program. Party guests will investigate liquid nitrogen, a unique material created at -321 degrees Fahrenheit, as it shatters flowers, obliterates racquet balls and collapses balloons filled with air. The grand finale will be ice cream made with liquid nitrogen to go with the birthday cake.
Shocking Discoveries
Your party guests will be shocked at how unique your party is when they encounter the Van de Graaff electricity generator! You’ll explore static electricity and electric current in this “hair-raising” program full of empowering hands-on experiments.

You Can Leave Your Hat On
This isn’t your average tea party! Party guests will explore unusual materials, from newsprint to aluminum can flowers, and create glamorous, original hats to wear. You’ll get inspiration from famous hats in art history, but the design and fabrication is up to you! Show off your style!
Good Vibrations
Catch a wave... a sound wave, that is! Party guests will experiment with vibrations to learn how sound is produced and how it travels through various materials. Guests will use vibrating tubes to play you "Happy Birthday!"
