Class Schedule


1/23 or 1/24
Investigate which items are attracted to magnets and which are not, and explore attracting and repelling with a wide variety of materials. Students use magnets to add “fur” to animal pictures, race magnetic cars, and more.


1/30 or 1/31
Get ready for some soapy fun as students use a variety of materials and solutions to experiment with bubble blowing. Students observe the colors in a bubble and make colorful bubble prints.


2/6 or 2/7
It’s time to give triangles the attention they deserve! In this exploration students discover the different kinds of triangles and their importance. They also use triangles to build three-dimensional objects and begin to explore the perimeters and areas of these objects.


2/13 or 2/14
Experiment with the strength of cones, create art with loops and circles, and be an architect with cylinders and domes.


2/20 or 2/21
Experiment with spinning and twirling, looping and whirling. Make your own spinning tops and twirly birds to take home.


2/27 or 2/28
Have you stopped to marvel at the wonders of the air around you? Students “catch” air to see that it takes up space, use air to do work, and learn about the power of air pressure. Bubbles, pinwheels, and paint help us understand more about the air that is everywhere!


3/6 or 3/7
Get your hands dirty as you make discoveries about dirt and soil. Use magnifying loupes as you look for living material in the dirt.Use clay to sculpt your own creation.


3/13 or 3/14
Examine a variety of rocks and crystals. Use magnifying loupes to make up-close observations. Experiment to find out if any of the rocks roll, fizz, or float. Make your own rock prints.

3/27 or 3/28
Many people wear hats, but have you ever thought about why? Students test fabrics to determine which are the most water repellent, explore how hats’ forms are related to their functions, observe hats in works of art, and make original hats to wear home.


4/3 or 4/4
What do butterflies and frogs have in common? Students observe plants and animals at different stages in their life cycles, and discover how plants and animals change and grow up to be like their parents.


4/10 or 4/11
Discover different ways to make shadows as we investigate light and shadow shapes, experiment with colored shadows, and make shadow puppets..


4/17 or 4/18
Explore pendulums and chaotic motion. We’ll play with pendulums that draw in the sand, pendulums that paint, and much more.

The exploration topics change each semester.

It’s time for Explora’s 2017 Spring semester programs

Explora educators develop camp activities with children’s developmental levels in mind. Your children will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with older and younger peers and make new friends.


  • You can register online, by phone, or download and mail/fax the completed registration form.
  • Please have the following available when you register: emergency contact name and phone numbers; name of alternate adults who can pick up the child; child’s medications, dosages, and physician’s name; child’s insurance information, as well as any allergy or special needs information for your child.

Cancelation policy

  • If a cancelation is received at least 5 business days before the first class, a refund will be issued for the amount minus a 15% administration fee.
  • Cancelations received fewer than 5 business days before the first class will not be refunded.
  • Full fees will be refunded if Explora cancels a program.
